How to Use the Etsy Pricing Calculator

Two modes to cover every situation — whether you already have a price in mind or are building one from scratch.

1

Choose your mode

Mode 1 — Check a price: you already have a sale price and want to see your exact profit after all fees.

Mode 2 — Build a price: you know your costs and target margin, and want the calculator to work out the right price for you.

2

Enter your numbers

Fill in your item price (or costs), shipping charged to the buyer, your actual shipping cost, and material costs. Select your country and whether Offsite Ads apply to your shop.

3

Toggle "Already listed"

If the item is already live on Etsy, tick this box. It removes the $0.20 listing fee from the calculation — relevant for renewals, digital products sold multiple times, and existing listings.

4

Read the profit breakdown

The results show every fee individually — listing, transaction, payment processing, and offsite ads — plus your net profit and margin. No surprises at payout time.

5

Use the discount headroom

Below the results you'll see the lowest break-even price you can offer. Type any rounded sale price into the "Try a price" box and hit Calculate to instantly see the revised profit and fees with the discount applied.

6

Adjust and repeat

Change any input and recalculate as many times as you need. Use Mode 2 to find a price that hits your target margin, then use the discount headroom to know exactly how much room you have for a sale or coupon.

Frequently Asked Questions About Etsy Fees

How much does Etsy take from a sale in 2026?

Etsy charges three fees on every sale: a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the total buyer pays (item + shipping), and a payment processing fee of 3% + $0.25 for US sellers. Together these typically come to 10–12% of your sale. If the order was driven by an Offsite Ad, add another 12–15% on top.

What is Etsy's transaction fee?

It's 6.5% of everything the buyer pays — including the shipping price you set. It applies to every single sale, regardless of how the buyer found you or whether you run any ads.

Is the Offsite Ads fee mandatory?

It depends on your annual revenue. Shops earning under $10,000/year can opt out entirely. Shops that cross $10,000 in sales within a rolling 12-month period are permanently enrolled — but their rate drops from 15% to 12%. The fee only applies when an offsite ad actually generates a sale within 30 days of a click.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes — this surprises many new sellers. The 6.5% transaction fee and payment processing fee both apply to the shipping amount the buyer pays, not just the item price. If you overcharge shipping to pad profit, Etsy takes a cut of that too.

How do I price my products to make a profit on Etsy?

A reliable formula: Price = Total Costs ÷ (1 − total fee % − target margin %). Since Etsy's standard fees total roughly 9.8–10.5% for US sellers, use Mode 2 of this calculator to input your exact costs and desired margin — it solves for the right price automatically.

How do I know how much I can discount on Etsy without losing money?

Use the discount headroom feature built into this calculator. After calculating your sale, it shows the lowest break-even price you can offer — and lets you enter any rounded price to instantly see the revised profit and fees. This accounts for the fact that discounting also reduces Etsy's percentage fees, so your true headroom is slightly more than your raw profit figure.

Can I run an Etsy sale or coupon without losing money?

Yes, as long as the discounted price stays above your break-even point. The tricky part is that Etsy's fees scale with price, so a 20% discount doesn't cost you exactly 20% of profit — it costs slightly less, because the fee amounts also drop. The discount headroom calculator on this page does that maths for you automatically.

What is the Etsy payment processing fee for US sellers?

For US-based bank accounts it's 3% of the total sale (including shipping) + $0.25 flat. It varies by country: UK is 4% + £0.20; most of Europe is 4% + €0.30. Etsy charges this via their Etsy Payments system which is now mandatory in most countries.

Is there a monthly fee to sell on Etsy?

No. Etsy has no mandatory monthly subscription. You only pay the $0.20 listing fee when you publish (or renew) a listing, then transaction and processing fees when something sells. Etsy Plus is an optional $10/month plan with extra tools, but it's not required to sell.
